“Slide, Kelly, Slide” chronicles the tale of Jim Kelly, a talented but arrogant pitcher for the New York Yankees. His brash behavior distances him from teammates, notably the veteran catcher Tom Munson, who’s also the father of Kelly’s girlfriend, Mary. After a heated dispute with Munson, Kelly’s actions disillusion a young batboy, Mickey.

When Kelly abandons the team, a pivotal moment comes as Mickey faces a life-threatening accident. With the team’s fate and Mickey’s recovery on the line, Kelly must rejoin the Yankees, not only to win the game but to prove he’s more than just his arrogant façade.
