In the 1976 classic “The Bad News Bears,” Walter Matthau plays Morris Buttermaker, a washed-up minor leaguer and pool cleaner tasked with coaching a woefully inept little league team in the San Fernando Valley. The team is a mess, filled with clumsy and unskilled kids who seem to have no chance at success.

Undeterred, Buttermaker uses unconventional methods and recruits unlikely players to revitalize the team. Despite the odds, the group of misfits learns the value of teamwork and self-respect, transforming from laughingstocks to contenders. The film is a comedic and heartfelt tribute to America’s favorite pastime and the ultimate underdog story.
