“The Catcher Was a Spy” tells the story of Moe Berg, a Major League Baseball catcher who becomes a spy for the U.S. Office of Strategic Services (OSS) during World War II. He is sent to Europe to assess German physicist Werner Heisenberg’s role in Nazi Germany’s atomic bomb project.

Portrayed by Paul Rudd, Berg is a multi-lingual and educated man. The film’s climax involves Berg attending a Heisenberg lecture to determine whether the physicist’s work for the Nazis is a significant threat, facing the dilemma of possible assassination. The movie explores themes of identity, ethics, and patriotism.
