Balls of Holly were trailing 5-1 going into the bottom of the 9th, score 6, and out-dance the Tinsel Toes, 6-5. At the request of the losing pitcher, I am not naming his name (**eh hem, Johnny Robbles, eh hem**).

In a terrible twist of fate, Master Gunnery Sergeant William McCorkle, who had been present for many Winterball game, passed away less than a week before this year’s game. His sons, Jim and Jack McCorkle, were on hand to throw out ceremonial first pitches, joined by Sgt. Tyler Longe McCann and SSgt. Zachary Pineau.
