Susan Miller-Havens hails from Cambridge, MA, but her work has received national acclaim. In 2011, the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery acquired her painting of Red Sox ace Pedro Martinez for their collection in Washington DC, the second portrait of hers to be selected (the first was Carlton Fisk).

The Sports Museum of New England summed up her work best when they said she captures the heroic qualities in all her portraits and figure studies with a palette that includes the most subtle of color combinations. Her paintings are as much about the magic of color as the essence of heroism in her subjects. Two of Susan’s works were also featured in the baseball film Mr. 3000, starring Bernie Mac.
