In 1957’s Deep South, the Tampico Stogies, a floundering minor-league baseball team, pin their hopes on war-veteran manager, Cecil “Stud” Cantrell. As they rise from the ashes, Cantrell and his team grapple with love, racism, and the machinations of their corrupt owners.

Facing the championship game, Cantrell and star catcher Joe Brown confront moral and career-altering decisions. Amidst the pressures, the team’s unity is tested, culminating in a poignant double wedding and an uncertain path ahead for Cantrell.
