163 Jeppson’s Malort

163 Jeppson’s Malört is a Broken Bat Brewing lager that blends their flagship light lager with the unmistakable bite of Jeppson’s Malört. Aged in Malört barrels infused with grapefruit, honey, and lime, it delivers a light, crisp base lifted by the sharp, bitter edge of Chicago’s most infamous liqueur. Malört, a Swedish-style bäsk flavored with wormwood, is known for its intensely bitter taste. Created by Swedish immigrant Carl Jeppson during Prohibition, it has long been considered a Chicago rite of passage.

The name “163” refers to the Brewers’ unforgettable Game 163 tiebreaker in 2018, played at Wrigley Field on October 1, 2018. Milwaukee and Chicago finished the regular season tied atop the NL Central, forcing a winner-take-all game for the division. The Brewers won 3–1, powered by Christian Yelich’s MVP stretch run and timely offense, clinching the division title and securing the top seed in the National League playoffs. The beer itself is a clever riff on the Malört Spritz, tying together Milwaukee baseball history and a Chicago drinking legend in one unexpected, memorable lager.
