Bang the Trash Can Slowly
Made by Rally Cap Brewing Co., Bang the Trash Can Slowly is a hazy double IPA generously hopped with Citra, Mosaic and Waimea hops. The result is an explosion of citrus and tropical flavors with notes of tangerine, ripe mango, and a touch of candied grapefruit. The naming of this brew includes two clever baseball references.
- The cheating efforts of the Houston Astros in 2019 – The ‘Stros were alleged to have stolen their opponents’ pitching signs to provide their batters with a potentially unfair advantage. They’d bang a baseball bat against a trash can. This bang would indicate to the batter if the next pitch would be off speed.
- The 1956 movie (remade in 1973), Bang the Drum Slowly – this flick is about a baseball player with limited intellect who is dying and bonds with brighter and more talented teammate.
If the beer is constructed as well as its name, you know it’ll be a hit.
ABV – 8.0%
Houston Astros Stealing Signs
The Houston Astros used cameras to steal signs and relay them to the dugout, where a trash can was banged to alert the batter of the pitch that was coming. See for yourself.
