“Right Off the Bat” captures the compelling story of Mike “Turkey Mike” Donlin. Rising from a machinist to a bush-league star, Mike’s integrity is tested when a gambler bribes him to lose the championship game. Refusing the bribe, Mike faces assault and confinement. Despite the odds, he escapes, rushes to the ballpark, scores the winning run, and subsequently signs a contract with the New York Giants. The film intertwines Mike’s real-life wife, Rita, as the friend of his on-screen love interest, Viola Bradley.

Recognized as the pioneering baseball biopic, “Right Off the Bat” is a monumental piece in film history. By definition, a biopic depicts the life of a real person, and this narrative masterfully intertwines sports, morality, and cinematic artistry.
